Verona is one of the main tourist destinations in northern Italy thanks to its artistic treasures, annual fairs, shows and music events such as the lyrical season in the Arena. Because of the value and importance of its many historical buildings, Verona has been registered in the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. One of its most famous monuments is the Roman amphitheatre, the Arena, one of the largest and the best preserved in Italy. Verona is well known in the world also thanks to William Shakespeare, who chose the town as the background for his tragedy Romeo and Juliet. The balcony of Juliet’s house, together with the Arena, are the symbol of the town. Verona is not far from the Lake of Garda, where there are many lovely villages with tourist facilities such as Riva del Garda, Peschiera and Desenzano. Venice and other stunning art towns such as Mantua, Padua and Bergamo can be easily reached thanks to excellent road links and they are all within one hour drive. Verona also has an International Airport. Here is our selection in holiday villas and apartments in Verona and in the surrounding countryside.
