Great Choice of Accommodation in Italy

TUSCANY, Firenze

In the town of thousands and one treasures, the district of San Frediano has maintained the same essential elements that were described fifty years ago by the Florentine writer Vasco Pratolini in his novel "Le ragazze di San Frediano", where he portrayed the ordinary life of a noisy, genuine, lower-class district with deeply rooted traditions and secret artistic treasures. Today, walking along the narrow and lively streets of the area is still a charming experience that offers an original visit of central Florence to discover unique architectural treasures, like Palazzo Pitti, and curious details hidden among the century-old trees of Giardino di Boboli. Back to Ponte Vecchio, Borgo San Iacopo and Via Maggio are lined with elegant antique shops, lively handicraft workshops, and fine Palazzi. Piazza Santo Spirito instead is now the gastronomic centre of the district, with its many osterias where you can try the typical dishes of the Florentine cooking tradition, whilst enjoying the charming view of the ancient buildings. In the last few years, along the narrow streets of San Frediano, there are several restaurants with design interiors and ethnic restaurants, which are particularly appreciated by foreign visitors, and by the students who live in the district. The most exiciting experience, however, is to get lost in the network of streets and small squares, in a magic atmosphere that remains unchanged with the passing of time.
