Great Choice of Accommodation in Italy

LIGURIA, La Spezia , Lerici

Lerici is the largest village of the Gulf of La Spezia, also known as the Gulf of Poets because it inspired some of the world's most celebrated poets who came and lived here. Both Dante and Petrarch spoke of the natural beauty of the gulf. Shelley lived in the village of San Terenzo, and also died here when his boat was hit by a storm. At Portovenere there's a grotto dedicated to Lord Byron where he used to swim. Lerici, with its ancient castle and old district, can be reached by ferry from La Spezia, Portovenere, and Le Cinque Terre. From Lerici a nice walk leads to San Terenzo and there are hiking trails to small fishing villages to the southeast like Fiascherino, Tellaro, and Montemarcello.
