Description

The estate known as Caiolo (a name of Longobard origin referring to the place where horses were raised for the army) was a property of the Orsini family, descendants of the present owners. In 1950, they expanded the estate, buying surrounding land from the Counts of Sottocasa.

At the heart of the estate are the four farmhouses, the main house and the swimming pool which make up the Agriturismo La Fonte complex.

The houses are free-standing and separated by about 400-500 metres, situated in the peaceful countryside amid gently rolling hills and surrounded by woods, farmland, olive groves and vineyards.At the edge of the estate is the hamlet of Migliaolo, home to the main family house and a small church dating from the 1700s. Two km from La Fonte is the town of Panicale, and Lake Trasimeno is 10 km away. The farm produces wheat, sunflowers, corn, and excellent olive oil and wine, which guests can buy.
There are fruit trees all around, and the woods are home to pheasants, porcupines and other small wildlife.The area is ideal for walking and hiking, and there is also a stable and corral on the property.
